While the focus of Ufology Research has always been on UFO cases across the country, and the corresponding Canadian UFO Survey, we do on occasion put out other reports.
In the 1980s and early 1990s, the public had a bit of a fascination with so-called "crop circles". These were circles or strange patterns that were showing up, seemingly overnight, in farmers' fields. First coming to attention in the early 1980s in the U.K., they began to spread around the world, including to Canada. The "North American Institute for Crop Circles Research (NAICCR) was formed, and in 1992 did a joint study with Ufology Research (then known as Ufology Research of Manitoba, or UFOROM). This study, in a manner similar to the Canadian UFO Survey, looked at Unidentified Ground Markings in Canada for the year 1992.
As Ufology Research is based out of Manitoba, there has been a bit of a focus on Manitoban cases. As such, an historical analysis of Manitoba sightings was done in 1995.
One of the more interesting aspects of the UFO phenomenon has always been physical trace cases. This is proof positive that for at least a minority of cases, something real has interacted with the physical environment, and left something behind that could to at least some degree be studied scientifically. Such cases received a lot of attention back in the 1970s, but seemingly began to decline over time to the point where today, such physical trace cases typically account for less than one percent of cases in any given year. But in recognition of the importance of these cases, a catalogue was compiled for physical trace cases.
